Bring your own key
gyrentruns on AI models that cost money per token. You can pay from a USDC balance at the model’s exact price — or bring a key you already have from an AI provider, and chat and build for free, on your own key, with no deposit. This page is the whole setup. It takes about a minute.
Connect a wallet
Open gyrent.xyz and choose Ethereum wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet) or Solana wallet (Phantom, Solflare, Backpack). You sign one message to prove the wallet is yours — no transaction, no gas, nothing to pay. If you don’t have a browser wallet yet, install MetaMask or Phantomfirst, or open the page inside your wallet’s in-app browser.
A brand-new wallet works immediately — there is no waitlist and no email.
Get a provider key
gyrentdoesn’t sell you the key — you bring one you control, billed by that provider, never by us. Any one of these works for both chat and building:
- AnthropicClaude — BYOK-only here; get a key at console.anthropic.com
- DeepSeeklow-cost; platform.deepseek.com
- Groqfast open models; console.groq.com
- OpenRouterone key, many models; openrouter.ai
You only need one. A key from any provider above powers the whole flow — the router uses whichever you’ve stored. (Other providers may appear in Settings but not every one can carry a build yet; the four above always can, and the page tells you plainly if a stored key can’t do something.)
Paste it in Settings
Go to Settings → Your own API keys (BYOK), paste the key next to its provider, and press save. Then flip the BYOK toggle on at the top of that box.
Watch for the green line: Active — chat runs on your key and is never billed. That’s the confirmation it’s live. If instead you see an amber or red note, read it — it names exactly what to fix (usually: the toggle is still off, or the key’s provider can’t drive builds).
Your key is encrypted at rest and never leaves the server or comes back to your browser — not even to you. If you ever want it gone, press remove.
Chat and build
Open chatand describe what you want — “a landing page for a coffee shop”. The agent reads your intent, proposes a build, and — once you approve — builds and deploys it. Every step of inference runs on your key, so it costs you nothing here.
When is USDC ever needed?
- Not for the AI, with BYOK. Chat and the build agent run on your own key, free. No balance required for inference at all.
- For tools a build buys. Some builds purchase a paid service mid-run (a premium API, a paid deploy) on the open x402 market. Those come from your USDC balance, and you approve the budget first — most simple app builds buy nothing.
- For the AI itself, if you’d rather not BYOK. Without a key, new accounts get 5 free tries on our models; after that, deposit and the AI runs at each model’s exact price, no markup — the same at-cost billing, just on our key instead of yours.
